Tenet proposed an 80-bed hospital in Palm Beach Gardens, tentatively named Florida Regional Medical Center. The new facility was opposed by Jupiter (Fla.) Medical Center and HCA’s Columbia Hospital in West Palm Beach, both of which could file legal action appealing the CON, according to a Palm Beach Post report.
Shands Jacksonville Medical Center (Fla.) was also granted a CON to build a 100-bed facility to be called Shands Jacksonville Medical Center-Northside, located in the northern Jacksonville. As part of the agreement, Shands said it would de-license 100 beds at its flagship facility and convert them to private rooms.
