Rhode Island Attorney General Approves Steward, Landmark Medical Merger

Attorney General Peter Kilmartin has approved the sale of Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, R.I., to Boston-based Steward Health Care System, according to a Providence Journal report.

Rhode Island Health Director Michael Fine approved the sale earlier this month. Like Mr. Fine, Mr. Kilmartin imposed undisclosed conditions on the sale. Steward Health Care must assess the conditions for fit with the requirements in its asset purchase agreement before the sale will finalize.
