Ill. governor enacts law to diagnose, treat sepsis

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner signed into law legislation requiring state hospitals adopt protocols for diagnosing and treating sepsis, according to WNIJ Radio.

The legislation was named after Gabby Galbo, a five-year-old girl who died from a tick bite that led to undiagnosed sepsis in 2012.

The bill signing ceremony took place at PresenceCovenantMedicalCenter in Urbana, Ill. Presence implemented protocols for treating sepsis in 2007.
