HRSA Issues Final Rule on National Practitioner Data Bank

The Health Resources and Services Administration has issued a final rule consolidating the Healthcare Integrity and Protection Data Bank into the National Practitioner Data Bank.

Effective May 6, this rule revises existing NPDB regulations to incorporate requirements from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. However, the rule does not affect existing reporting requirements or query access, so existing requirements for hospitals and other health care entities will remain the same.
