Home health company owner gets prison for Medicaid, pandemic loan fraud

A Missouri home health owner was sentenced to five years in prison for a pair of fraud schemes, including defrauding the state's Medicaid program out of $1.2 million.

DeAndre Horne owned Serenity Home Health Care CDS, where he billed Medicaid for services that were not supported by valid timesheets or electronic visit verification documents, according to a June 21 Justice Department news release. The fraudulent billing occurred between July 2017 and March 2021.

He also fraudulently obtained a $135,7070 Paycheck Protection Program in July 2020 by falsely claiming to be the sole owner of a towing company.

Mr. Horne was ordered to repay $1,474,338 in total to Medicaid and the Small Business Administration, according to the release.
