The FTC has requested a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction of the deal, arguing the transaction would reduce competition in the Rockford area.
A federal hearing on the challenge is scheduled in April, and a preliminary injunction could help the FTC’s case, according to the report.
The two systems announced their plan to affiliate in February of last year.
