Former Metro Health leader, board member suing CEO Mike Faas for wrongful termination

Laura Sacha-Staskiewicz, former vice president of the Metro Health Hospital Foundation and hospital board member, is suing Wyoming, Mich.-based Metro Health CEO Mike Faas for wrongful termination, according to Wood TV.

Ms. Sacha-Staskiewicz's lawsuit filed Monday claims $50 million in proceeds Metro Hospital will make after Nashville, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems buys a 80 percent stake in the system and it becomes a for-profit entity are supposed to go to the charitable foundation. However, she learned last October that Mr. Faas plans to dissolve the foundation so the hospital can keep the money, according to the allegations in her lawsuit.

Ms. Sacha-Staskiewicz claims she complained about this issue repeatedly to the Michigan Attorney General, state police and Wyoming police, and also wrote anonymous letters. She says this is what led Mr. Faas to suspend and then fire her in January, against her rights as a protected whistleblower.
