Florida hospital self-reports fraud, will pay $2.4M

Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola (Fla.) has agreed to pay $2.4 million after it self-reported alleged violations of the Civil Monetary Penalties Law.

The HHS office of inspector general alleged Sacred Heart paid remuneration to a physician group in the form of free or below fair market value space, equipment and personnel, according to a Feb. 28 update on the agency’s website.
