Florida Gov. Rick Scott has withdrawn his injunction against the Obama administration over federal healthcare money, but he doesn't have plans to drop his lawsuit against the federal government quite yet, according to a Miami Herald report.
Gov. Scott's lawsuit against the government alleges federal regulators are unconstitutionally forcing Florida to expand Medicaid by withholding Low Income Pool program funding. Florida Attorney General Pamela Jo Bondi and the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration joined Gov. Scott in filing the lawsuit against CMS, HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell and Andy Slavitt, acting administrator of CMS.
Gov. Scott will not drop the lawsuit until the Obama administration makes a decision on the Florida Legislature's $2 billion shared spending proposal for next year, according to the report, which cited a notice filed by the governor in his lawsuit this week.
Florida and federal health officials have been working on a healthcare funding resolution. However, Florida government will be partially shut down if a new budget is not in place by July 1, according to the report.
