Florida clinic owner arrested for practicing medicine without a license

Police on Thursday arrested Jose A. Ramirez, the president of Med-Clinic Health Care in Doral, Fla., for practicing medicine without a license.

The arrest followed a joint investigation involving the Florida Department of Health and law enforcement from both the city of Doral and Miami-Dade County, among other governmental and regulatory entities.

"An ex-employee at the Med-Clinic Health Care witnessed Jose A. Ramirez perform medical procedures on patients and also diagnosed and treated medical conditions on patients from May 2017 through August 2017," the health department said.

The ex-employee also witnessed Mr. Ramirez write prescriptions for patients using another physician's name and state-issued medical license.

The City of Doral Code Enforcement shut down the clinic pending a hearing. Mr. Ramirez is not licensed to practice medicine in Florida or any other state, according to the Miami Herald.
