Here are four things to know about the law.
1. The law, Senate Bill 2407, took effect Jan. 1.
2. Under the law, hospital boards must allow the public to attend most of their meetings, according to the report. But the rule does not apply if the board must talk about patient information, competitive business matters or employment contracts, the report notes.
3. Under the law, hospitals were also supposed to post by Jan. 1 financial reports, audits and budgets online.
4. The law was filed in response to pension problems at Pascagoula, Miss.-based Singing River Hospital, according to the report, which cites the Associated Press.
