The agreement came at 1 a.m. on Sunday, about one hour after contracts officially expired and five hours before the strike was slated to begin.
The District 1199C of the National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees represents 1,400 workers at Jefferson, including licensed practical nurses, hospital escorts, nurses’ assistants, and kitchen staff, according to the report.
