Fake cruise ship physician sentenced to 3 years in prison

A nurse who found employment aboard an American/British owned cruise ship after as a physician has been sentenced to more than three years in prison, according to The Maritime Executive.

The man, identified in the German press as Denny H., was charged with the "deprivation of liberty associated with anesthesia, fraud, forgery and abuse of title," according to the report.

The man falsified credentials and claimed he was a certified anesthesiologist. He applied for work at Aida cruise lines and treated nearly 1,300 patients over a span of 10 months before he was arrested.

No patients appeared to be harmed by his actions, according to the report.

The man was arrested in December 2015 after flying from Miami to Berlin to join a cruise ship, according to the report.
