Facility Guidelines Institute Accepts Comments on 2014 Hospital Construction Requirements

The Facility Guidelines Institute is accepting comments on the draft of its 2014 edition of Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities — the reference standard for new construction and renovation of healthcare facilities.

Among changes proposed for the 2014 edition are new risk assessments, updated commissioning guidance and new requirements for window coverings, staff nap rooms in hospitals and medication safety zones.

Comments will be accepted through November 22 and reviewed by the 129-member Health Guidelines Revision Committee, which is the multidisciplinary body in charge of updating the guidelines.
