What happened?

  • Robert Florea, 49, was sentenced after being convicted in October of one count of Medicaid fraud, according to a June 24 news release from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. His clinic, Buckeye Health and Research, was found guilty of the same charge.
  • He claimed reimbursement for more than 5,100 pieces of medical equipment over a three-year span, but records showed that he bought only 460 of the items.

  • Mr. Florea permanently surrendered his medical license at the beginning of the year. The clinic is no longer in operation.
