According to a Nov. 7 indictment, Margaret Fisher, the former CEO of Fishield Behavioral Medical Services in Madison, defrauded Medicare and Medicaid by falsely billing for psychotherapy services that weren’t provided or supervised by a provider.
The Justice Department claims Ms. Fisher defrauded Medicare and Medicaid of $1 million. She was charged with four counts of healthcare fraud and two counts of identity theft, as she forged a provider’s signature for reimbursement checks, according to the indictment.
Ms. Fisher, who was arrested Dec. 13, could face up to 12 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
