HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley will be a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital and will include all private patient rooms, an obstetrical unit, an intensive/critical care unit, five operating rooms, one special procedure room and a cardiac catheterization laboratory.
The approval by state Commissioner Mary O’Dowd marks the end of a long-fought battle between HackensackUMC and neighboring facilities Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J., and Englewood (N.J.) Hospital and Medical Center.
HackensackUMC filed a petition with the New Jersey Department of Health to reopen Pascack Valley Hospital in December 2010.
