The U.S. Attorney’s Office claimed Children’s Physician Services of South Texas and Radiology Associates each billed the government for the same procedure over the span of five years, which allegedly resulted in at least $12.3 million in improper reimbursement.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Driscoll Children’s said the hospital decided to settle the case “to avoid the delay, uncertainty, inconvenience and expanse of protracted litigation,” according to the report.
Under the settlement terms, Driscoll Health System agreed to pay $1.5 million while Radiology Associates agreed to pay $0.8 million.
