A noncompete dispute between CVS Health and Cigna involving former Cigna executive Amy Bricker has been settled, according to court documents reviewed by Becker’s.
The case, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, centered on Ms. Bricker’s January 2023 resignation from Cigna’s Express Scripts unit to join CVS. Cigna sued to block the move, citing risks to trade secrets tied to a $35 billion pharmacy benefit manager contract. A federal judge then granted a preliminary injunction, which the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld in June 2024.
An Alternative Dispute Resolution compliance report filed June 9 indicates the parties reached a settlement, though no formal mediation conference was held and the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
