CMS Extends Strong Start Program Application Deadline

CMS will extend the deadline for hospitals and others to apply for a pool of $43.2 million in grants to test new approaches to prenatal care for Medicaid enrollees at risk for pre-term births, according to an AHA News Now report.

While letters of intent for the program were due May 11 and applications due June 13, CMS is making revisions to the program and will provide further clarification in the coming days. CMS is expected to announce revised deadlines soon.

The funding is part of the public-private partnership Strong Start initiative to prevent pre-term births while improving care and reducing costs.
