A proposed rule (pdf) would focus on reducing costs through several regulations:
• Alignment of reimbursement rates that reflect the actual price the pharmacy pays for the prescription drug.
• An increase in rebates paid by drug manufacturers that participate in Medicaid.
• Drug rebates for Medicaid beneficiaries who are in a Medicaid managed care organization.
The proposed rule will be published in the Federal Register on Feb. 2, and comments can be submitted through April 2.
