The class action suits — all filed within the past two months — involve some of the largest pharmacy benefit managers and health insurers in the country.

The lawsuits argue pharmacy benefit manager OptumRx — a UnitedHealthcare subsidiary — and Humana Pharmacy Solutions worked with payers to overcharge patients for prescription drugs, according to the allegations.

Lawsuits against Bloomfield, Conn.-based Cigna and Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealthcare are the most recent, filed Dec. 7 and Dec. 8, respectively. The lawsuit against Cigna claims “hundreds of thousands” of people were affected, and the lawsuit against UnitedHealthcare alleges “tens of thousands” of people were affected, according to the report.
