Centerpointe Medical Clinic closes after opioid lawsuit

Centerpointe Medical Clinic in Kingsport, Tenn., closed its doors after being labeled a "pill mill" in a June lawsuit, according to a WCYB report.

Centerpointe posted signs on its locked front doors saying it was closed for patients. The postings said the medical clinic is no longer in business due to mounting legal fees from the opioid lawsuit.

The clinic said it was unfairly targeted and had not done anything wrong. The clinic's phone remains unanswered, according to WCYB. Barry Staubus, the lead of three district attorneys general who brought the suit, told WCYB he was surprised by the clinic's closing. The closing will not change the clinic's standing as a defendant.
