Atmore (Ala.) Community Hospital, a 49-bed facility, plans to seek Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to support the hospital amid financial restructuring.
“The filing is intended to address financial challenges and strengthen the hospital’s long-term financial stability,” Atmore Community Hospital said in a July 9 news release. “This process provides the opportunity to restructure obligations while continuing care and operations.”
Atmore Community said it has no plans to reduce or cut any services, including its emergency department, due to the bankruptcy filing. It also has no plans to close and patient care, appointments and providers will remain unaffected.
The hospital said the bankruptcy process timing will vary depending on certain restructuring circumstances.
