AHA Testifies at House Hearing on VA Healthcare

President of the American Hospital Association Rich Umbdenstock testified at a House hearing on operational best practices from the private healthcare sector and how they could be applied in Veterans Affairs facilities.

Hospitals "are harnessing the power of collaboration to dramatically improve the quality and safety of patient care," said Mr. Umbdenstock, at the hearing.

He also testified about the long-standing relationship many private hospitals have with the VA, and said hospitals need to be able to continue to contract directly with their local VA facilities rather than going through a managed care contractor.
