Detroit’s Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and Crittenton Hospital Medical Center in Rochester Hills, Mich., have agreed to dissolve their joint venture agreement over a new cancer facility, according to a Detroit Free Press report.

Effective July 1, Crittenton will assume sole management and ownership of the $16 million cancer facility. The two providers had operated the center as a joint venture since Feb. 2010.

A Crittenton spokesperson declined to say why the joint venture was ending, according to the report. The hospital will continue its affiliation agreement with Karmanos, with Karmanos providing additional cancer care to Crittenton patients.
