65 False Claims Act cases unsealed since June: 5 things to know

Since June, 65 lawsuits filed under the qui tam, or whistle-blower, provision of the False Claims Act have been unsealed, according to a National Law Review report.

Here are five things to know about the unsealed cases.

1. The government declined to intervene in 34 cases, partially intervened in 10 cases and fully intervened in 7 cases.

2. Nineteen of the unsealed cases were dismissed prior to settlement, with nine of the lawsuits being voluntary dismissed by the whistle-blower.

3. Settlement agreements were entered into in 12 of the cases.

4. The majority of the unsealed cases (58 percent) were originally filed in 2012 or before.

5. Forty percent of the cases were filed in 2013, and only 2 percent were filed in 2014.
