5 States With The Most Medicaid Fraud Investigations, Recoveries

According to HHS’ Office of the Inspector General’s annual report, the following 5 states had the most Medicaid fraud investigations for 2013:

1. Texas – 1,165 fraud investigations
2. Indiana – 812 fraud invetigations
3. California – 718 fraud investigations
4. Ohio – 701 fraud investigations
5. New york – 677 fraund investigations

According to the annual report, the following five states had the most criminal and civil Medicaid fraud recoveries for 2013:

1. Virginia – $1billion
2. Texas – $196 million
3. Louisiana – $187 million
4. New York – $134 million
5. Tennessess – $78 million
