15-month sentence for women who defrauded patients of a Louisiana medical clinic

A woman has been sentenced to serve 15 months in federal prison for defrauding patients of a Metairie, La.-based medical clinic.

Ashley Green, 39, was sentenced on March 16, after pleading guilty to one count of bank larceny bill of information in August 2021, according to a March 18 press release.

Ms. Green was a part of a scheme that used patient information, such as names, dates of birth, addresses and Social Security numbers, obtained from a co-conspirator who worked at the clinic, to contact the victims' banks and request debit cards in the victims' names.

At least $200,000 was withdrawn from the victims' accounts, according to the press release.

In addition to the 15-month jail term, Green is required to serve three years of supervised release and has been ordered to pay $205,863 in restitution to the victims.

It is unknown how many patients were affected.
