St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in New York Cuts 60 Positions

St. Luke's Cornwall (N.Y.) Hospital has eliminated 60 positions through layoffs and attrition, according to a Poughkeepsie Journal report.

About 35 people were laid off and the remaining positions were vacant, according to the report.

Cornwall Hospital expects to save $3.2 million as a result of the workforce reduction. The hospital expects to have a $10 million deficit by the end of the year, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. The hospital attributes the financial trouble to lower patient volumes and reduced reimbursements.
