East Liverpool City Hospital Reduces Workforce

East Liverpool (Ohio) City Hospital is offering early retirement packages to some employees and reducing its administrative staff in an attempt to cut costs, according to a Morning Journal News report.

The hospital is also reducing employee benefits and will outsource services such as billing, collections and housekeeping, according to the report. A specific number of jobs or employees affected by the changes was not provided in the report.

East Liverpool City Hospital has been affected by lower reimbursements and is making the cuts to "ensure [it] can continue to provide care in the future," according to the Morning Journal News.

"My first responsibility is to ensure that we are able to provide the best care possible for our patients. We are simply putting our patients first as we design a new business model for our future," Ken Cochran, president and CEO of ELCH, said in the report.
