Memorial Hospital in Illinois to Lay Off 14

Belleville, Ill.-based Memorial Hospital and Memorial Medical Group are laying off 14 staff members, according to a Belleville News-Democrat report.

The layoffs will affect 5 percent of the hospital’s management and administrative positions, according to the report.

Memorial Hospital officials called the layoffs a “sign of the times,” according to BND. “Hospitals across the country are working to reduce expenses while increasing efficiency and quality,” the hospital’s CEO Mark Turner said, according to the report.
