Meet the CEOs of 4 of the biggest lab companies

The biggest lab companies in the U.S. are some of the largest globally as well.

Here are the CEOs of four of the largest medical lab companies in the U.S.:

Labcorp

Adam Schechter. Chair, President and CEO

Mr. Schechter has served as the board chair at Labcorp since May 13, 2020, and as the president and CEO since November 1, 2019. He has served on the Labcorp board since April 2013. Before Labcorp, from 2010 to 2018 Mr. Schechter was an executive vice president at Merck, as well as the company's president of the global human health division.

Quest Diagnostics

Stephen Rusckowski. Chair, President and CEO

Mr. Rusckowski has served as Quest Diagnostics' CEO since 2012, and as board chair since 2016. Under his leadership, Quest grew from a lab company that was not growing in 2012 to a leader in diagnostics with record revenues and earnings in 2021. Before joining Quest, he had been with Philips Healthcare since 2001. Under his leadership as CEO, Philips Healthcare became the largest unit of Royal Philips Electronics.

Mr. Rusckowski will gradually transition his CEO responsibilities to Jim Davis, who will become Quest's new CEO on Nov. 1. Mr. Rusckowski will continue to serve as executive chair of the board of directors. 

Roche Diagnostics

Thomas Schinecker, PhD. CEO

Dr. Schinecker has served as Roche Diagnostics' CEO since August 2019, and for the year prior served as its global head of centralized and point-of-care solutions. From 2013 to 2017, Dr. Schinecker was general manager of Roche Diagnostics' Germany division, as well as the German division of parent company Roche Holding. He has been with Roche since 2003.

Opko Health

Phillip Frost, MD. Chair and CEO

Dr. Frost has been the chair and CEO of Opko since March 2007.  Before that, he served as chair and vice chair of the board at Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. Dr. Frost also served as chair and CEO of Ivax from 1987 until it was acquired by Teva in January 2006. Dr. Frost has served as a governor and co-vice chair of the American Stock Exchange. He is currently a member of the board of trustees at the University of Miami.
