Illinois lab earns CAP accreditation

Carthage, Ill.-based Memorial Hospital Laboratory was awarded accreditation by the College of American Pathologists, according to a Nov. 25 The McDonough County Voice report.

The lab was awarded accreditation by meeting quality standards in an on-site inspection. The lab’s records and quality control of procedures for the past two years were reviewed, as well as staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program, records and overall management, according to the report.

“We are proud of our lab,” Lab Director Robert Deveraux said, according to the report. “Our laboratory must meet over 3,000 standards set forth by CAP accreditation. Over 10,000 tests are performed annually … . Staff competency must be maintained in all areas of testing.”
