Clinical trials firm invests $10M in Texas lab

Worldwide Clinical Trials Inc. is aiming to hire dozens of workers for a $10 million expansion to its Austin, Texas, lab, the Austin Business Journal reported Aug. 24.

The company recently added a 15,000-square-foot lab at its Bioanalytical Center of Excellence that increased its early-phase large molecule capabilities, the report said. It is expecting to hire 55 more employees in the next year, a more than 50 percent increase over its current team of 90.

With the new lab, Worldwide intends to grow its pharmacokinetics, antidrug antibodies and biomarkers sample analysis scale from about 70,000 to about 200,000 by 2024, the report said.
