Charles River Labs acquires Explora BioLabs for $295M

Charles River Laboratories has acquired vivarium research services provider Explora BioLabs for $295 million, ContractPharma reported April 6.

Explora BioLabs operates more than 15 preclinical vivarium facilities, the report said, with a planned Seattle expansion in 2022. The company had $38 million in annual revenue in 2021.

The acquisition expands Charles River’s accelerator and development lab services. The combined operation is expected to include 25 vivarium facilities by the end of 2022, with more than 300,000 square feet of rental capacity.
