Clinical lab technologists and technicians in Arkansas earn the lowest mean wage in the U.S., according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment and Wages report. Those in Mississippi don’t fare much better.

Here are the 10 lowest-paying states for clinical lab tech wages:

  2. Mississippi: $45,970
  3. Alabama:  $46,120
  4. Indiana: $48,410 
  5. Oklahoma: $48,670
  6. Utah: $49,000
  7. South Dakota: $49,580
  8. Iowa: $49,720
  9. Kansas: $49,810
  10. Missouri: $49,890
