U of Maryland Medical System partners with tech company to boost population health, reduce admin tasks

Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical System has partnered with tech company Curation Health to use data analytics to improve population health and reduce administrative tasks for providers.

The value-based care collaboration also includes CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, which the health system embarked on a five-year innovation partnership with in 2020, and will start as part of a pilot project with primary care providers at University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Group. The initiative will integrate clinical data into provider workflows to close care gaps.

"A large portion of our physicians' workday is spent managing administrative tasks," said Stephanie Selby, RN, vice president of clinical operations at University of Maryland Medical System, in a Jan. 24 news release. "We expect that implementing technology-focused solutions such as the Curation Health platform will help lessen the amount of time that physicians need to spend on these administrative tasks, allowing them to focus on what's most important — their patients' care."
