Texas Medical Center- and Stanford-backed AI startup raises $17M

Deep 6 AI, a startup developing artificial intelligence software to accelerate clinical trial design, recruitment and management, announced Nov. 25 the close of a $17 million Series A funding round.

The funding will allow Deep 6 AI to better meet the demand of healthcare provider, pharmaceutical company and research organization clients for its suite of clinical trial-optimizing AI tools. The startup will also further refine those tools and expand its network of clients, which currently includes Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and Houston-based Texas Medical Center, among several other health systems, life sciences companies, devicemakers and research facilities.

The Pasadena, Calif.-based company, which was founded in 2015, is an alumnus of several accelerator programs, including Texas Medical Center's TMCx in early 2018 and Stanford (Calif.) University's now-defunct StartX in the fall of 2016, the latter of which provided Deep 6 AI with approximately $600,000 in seed funding and other resources.
