Crozer pioneers mixed-reality system connecting physicians with 1st responders

Springfield, Pa..-based Crozer Health is integrating mixed reality technology into its toolkit for physicians and first responders.

Crozer teamed up with smart glasses developer and augmented and mixed reality provider ThirdEye, and Crozer is the first health system to use mixed reality in a healthcare setting, according to a Jan. 25 press release.

The augmented reality software, called RespondEye, allows physicians to assist response teams with treatment virtually before the patient is transported to the hospital.

"Our EMS team worked closely with ThirdEye to implement augmented reality remote assistance for front-line medics. By using augmented and mixed reality, we can enable hands-free remote assistance to enhance the care provided for our patients," Bruce Egan, chief of Crozer Emergency Medical Services, said in the release.
