Carmella Kletjian, CRNA, a member of Babson’s board of trustees and founding director of the global health-focused Kletjian Foundation, donated $10 million in lifetime giving for the creation of the center. It is named after Kerry Healey, PhD, former president of the university.
The center’s work will center primarily on research, but will also comprise several other initiatives, such as collaborations with local entrepreneurs, physicians and institutions to address the issues of healthcare accessibility, focusing specifically on developing nations.
“My hope is that the new center will succeed in bringing two disciplines together, medicine and entrepreneurship, and teach present and future generations the skills that will help improve healthcare in challenging areas,” Ms. Kletjian said in a statement.
