AtlantiCare to use AI assistant at 100+ locations

Atlantic City, N.J.-based health system AtlantiCare is set to implement the Orbita virtual artificial intelligence platform across its system, which includes more than 100 locations across Southern New Jersey.

Orbita can translate patient questions into clinical language; additionally, Orbita is trained to recognize and translate more than 100 languages. The health system hopes the AI assistant will help patients manage their appointments, according to an Oct. 26 AtlantiCare news release emailed to Becker's

AtlantiCare is rolling out Orbita in phases. The health system went live with Orbita's digital front door in September and plans to add patient outbound communication capabilities in 2023.

"We want to offer tools that will truly help those we serve," AtlantiCare Chief Medical Informatics Officer Paul Ehrlich, MD, said. "As consumers, they expect a certain level of automation and self-service in all areas of their lives. Our team recognizes this and wants to make accessing healthcare as easy and convenient as they deserve."
