AI expert joins Cedars-Sinai

An expert in natural language processing was named vice chair of Cedars-Sinai’s computational biomedicine department June 1.

In her new position, Graciela Gonzalez-Hernandez, PhD, will help expand the Los Angeles health system’s artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities.

Her research focuses on using algorithms to compute data from unstructured written text, like EHR notes or social media.

Dr. Gonzalez-Hernandez previously worked at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and helped launch the biomedical informatics department at Arizona State University.
