Some key findings from the survey of 139 executives and revenue cycle leaders include:
- While 90 percent of organizations with more than 600 beds were confident in their readiness by Oct. 1, 2014, just 58 percent of organizations with 100 beds or less said the same.
- More than 40 percent of hospitals and health systems did not have a testing plan in place with their top commercial payers.
- Only 22 percent of organizations had completed contingency plans to mitigate the risk involved with transitioning to the new coding system
- 71 percent had had less than half of their contracts analyzed to determine the potential financial impact of the move to ICD-10.
- Most did not feel confident in their ability to predict the impact on cash flow, payment and days not final billed.
