The California Nurses Association/ National Nurses United, which represents 265 RNs at Sierra Nevada, said the nurses had planned the informational picket Dec. 13 to raise awareness about their patient safety concerns due to cuts of nursing and nurse aides staff.
Now, nurses said they postponed the plans “because management has agreed to vital improvements in staffing and outstanding issues are nearing resolution.”
San Francisco-based Dignity Health operates the hospital.
Earlier this month, Dignity Health told Becker’s Hospital Review: “The care and safety of our patients is our top priority, and while we are disappointed in this [picketing] decision, we remain committed to continuing to work with them [RNs] to resolve any outstanding issues.”
“There have not been any layoffs of registered nurses or clinical care partners (nurse aides) at Sierra Nevada, and we continue to recruit registered nurses to fill open positions,” a Dignity Health spokesperson said.
