The agreement, which still needs to be ratified by the New York State Nurses Association, averts the union’s planned Sept. 1 strike.

St. Elizabeth nurses have been working without a contract for 14 months, according to the article. Nurses at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, N.Y., Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, N.Y., and St. Elizabeth recently voted to authorize a strike Sept. 1 amid staffing concerns.
The union called off the strike against Samaritan after reaching a tentative settlement Thursday, but an agreement has not been reached with Nathan Littauer, according to the article.
