The latest talks between Allina and the Minnesota Nurses Association ended Monday with no agreement.
Now, the union plans to present Allina’s latest offer to nurses for a vote Aug. 18, according to the report. Strikes would be possible at United Hospital in St. Paul, Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Unity Hospital in Fridley, and Abbott and Phillips Eye Institute in Minneapolis if nurses reject the offer by a two-thirds majority.
A sticking point in negotiations has been the cost and design of the nurses’ union-backed health insurance. Allina wants to eliminate the nurses’ four union-backed health plans with high premiums but low or no deductibles, while the union wants to protect those nurse-only plans, according to the report.
If the union decides to strike, members would have to give the hospital system a 10-day notice.
