Sacred Heart physicians ratify union contract: 4 things to know

Physicians at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield, Ore., ratified a union contract Thursday with their employer, according to The Lund Report.

Here are four things to know about the contract.

1. The contract covers hospitalists in the Pacific Northwest Hospital Medicine Association union, which was formed in 2014.

2. Under the contract, the physicians are ensured coverage by liability insurance, according to the report.

3. The contract also calls for a hospital committee that will give the physicians more input on staffing levels and patient safety. The committee will comprise management and hospitalists, and votes will be based on a simple majority, not a consensus, according to the report.

4. The contract will run through October 2017.
