New York probing union-busting claims at Hudson Valley hospital

State investigators confirmed a probe into alleged union-busting at Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.-based NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital, The Journal News reported.

The news comes after Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo called for the New York Department of Labor to investigate allegations of  "threatening and coercive behavior" at the facility.

About a month after NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley nurses voted to join the New York State Nurses Association, the state's labor department confirmed the investigation. However, it did not disclose additional details to The Journal News because it is an active probe.

Hospital officials said they respect employee rights and noted the unionization vote has been finalized.

"The National Labor Relations Board certified the results of the election in December, which the union and NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital have accepted, and we are moving forward. We are proud of the work our nurses do every day," they said in a statement to Becker's.
