Connecticut hospitals, union reach labor deal

Workers at Danbury (Conn.) Hospital and New Milford (Conn.) Hospital have reached a tentative contract agreement with management, according to The News-Times.

The tentative agreement covers approximately 900 workers represented by the Connecticut Health Care Associates. It includes a 1.75 percent wage raise in the first year of the contract, followed by 2 percent raises in each of the next two years, according to the report. The report states the contract also includes ratification bonuses for full- and part-time employees during two years of the contract, as well as "chances for the employees to participate on committees on issues like health and safety and labor disputes."

Workers, which include environmental service workers, certified nursing assistants, patient care technicians and office workers, must still ratify the contract, according to The News-Times. That is expected to happen later this month. The workers unionized in 2016.
